Running just 13 minutes long, 'B is for Bachata' is a colorful homage to the significance of this style of dance.

The film does a great job of highlighting the history of Bachata and its cultural significance, especially within Yonathan’s family. It becomes more than just a question of whether he can dance—it’s about understanding where he comes from and what traditions he may be unknowingly leaving behind.

B Is For Bachata is a charming way to spend 13-minutes. The actors all nail their parts. The look on Cruz’s face when he begins to realize the deep lore behind Bachata speaks volumes. Pichardo and Chapman are very funny and bring energy and enthusiasm to Bachata’s history.

The only real critique I have regarding this short film is that it is a short film. Bachata deserves to be celebrated through the feature-length format.
