Dominican-American filmmaker Ricky Rosario is a creative and strategic storyteller whose artistic and financial acumen have driven a decade of experience across Film, TV & Digital Content. Ricky’s acclaimed short film “Abuela’s Luck” which he wrote, directed, and produced, was optioned by HBO, airing across all HBO platforms and streaming on HBO Max. It aired to critical acclaim, earning a spot on Remezcla’s Top 10 Short Films by US Latino Directors for 2018. His continued distribution exposure came in 2019 for the short film “It’s Who You Know” – which Ricky directed and produced – and was optioned by Aspire TV as part of their “Urban Indie Film Block” program. Ricky’s latest short film, “B is for Bachata”, premiered in 2024 and has continued its film festival run receiving positive critical reviews and picking up festival awards for Best Soundtrack and Rising Director.
Ricky’s dynamic portfolio includes directing and producing high-impact commercials for global brands such as Wendy’s, Disney, Harry’s and Timex, as well as collaborations with top music industry talent. As Executive Producer of the award-winning documentary short “Life with CTE: A Warren Sapp Story” and Producer of the award-winning short film “Supa Hair” (via the LALIFF x Netflix Inclusion Fellowship), Ricky has demonstrated a keen ability to shepherd projects from concept to critical recognition, while consistently maximizing production value and managing budgets with precision.
Currently, Ricky is showcasing and developing several projects, including the short films “Beautifully Ugly” “Jodón” and “Casa”; the comedy special “¡Hola, Me Llamo Philip!”; feature film adaptations of “Abuela’s Luck” and “B is for Bachata”; and the TV spec pilot “Havana on the Hudson”—each offering fresh, authentic perspectives on the Latino experience.
A graduate of Seton Hall University with dual degrees in Marketing and Finance, Ricky leverages his financial expertise to deliver compelling stories efficiently. His business savvy extends beyond filmmaking: he is an avid investor, and his production company Copy Copy Productions also specializes in crafting engaging stories in finance, sports, and gaming.
